Week 1

Today's Inspiration: This year's mandate is to demonstrate God's power through transformation and growing to spiritual maturity. 1 Corinthians 4:20 is my key verse for the church. It's a reminder that the kingdom of God is not merely a matter of talk but of power.

Sometimes we are not getting anywhere no matter how hard we work. We become dry in the spirit. We are burnt out in the work. At the end of the day we find we achieve nothing.

We have often omitted the mandate of Christ which is to precede the mission. Jesus says unless we have this abiding relationship, we bear no fruit. John 15:5.

Our mandate is to focus on the Cross of Christ, the redemptive work of God in our lives which empowers us to live life with meaning, purpose and wisdom. Are we living life with a purpose? The way we walk (Jesus' way) must surpasses the agenda of work but most Christians focus on serving rather than the abiding relationship hence the strife.

The Great commission can never be effective without transformation and the alignment to the Great commandment. Matthew 12:30, Matthew 22:28-29. Only when we align to God in love, do we have access to God's resources and God's power through God's spirit to fulfil God's purpose for His glory.

Knowing the truth cannot change you. It's the application of the truth in your life that changed you. Matthew 7:24. But if you just listen to a message and don't apply the word in your life, you are building your house on sand which can be easily destroyed. Today this key is missing in churches and this is why many are not spiritually mature. It is not the right program, the right environment with the right process but the grounding in God's word that caused a change in your life that brings you to spiritual maturity.

Spiritual maturity precedes spiritual multiplication. The quality of the fruit is determined by the depth of the root meaning that unless you are deeply rooted in the word of God through abiding relationship with Him, you cannot be fruitful. Jesus often withdrew from the crowd to seek the agenda for the day and this is why he is fruitful in His ministry. Time alone with God is awesome. His strategies far exceed man's efforts which are futile. Psalm 94:11.
